Brandon bound – WEST SIDE MANIA!

I’m leaving Avenue Q and moving to a nicer neighbourhood in Brandon, Manitoba…

Well, not really. But, I am through with Avenue Q (for now) and I am travelling to Brandon, but only for a visit AND to perform a concert with the Brandon Chamber Players! Click here for more information on this world-class chamber ensemble.

I am very excited to be part of West Side Mania, the final concert of the BCP 2013-14 season. The concert will be held at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at Brandon University on Tuesday, April 22 at 8:00. Being a Western Manitoba native, this experience is going to be extra special for me. I absolutely love when opportunities arise where I can return home and perform for familiar faces, family, and friends. Also, I get to perform some my favourites from the music theatre repertoire. Leonard Bernstein’s masterpiece, West Side Story, was hugely influential when I was a young, aspiring musician.

I can recall the time when I first heard Maria. I was sixteen years old, inexperienced and under-studied as a singer, and still living in Minnedosa. But I remember saying to myself, “Someday I’ll sing this song and do it justice and love every minute of it!” Well, I have a chance to do just that on April 22. Other items on the program include America, Something’s Coming, and the famous love duet Tonight, among others.
